Year 1982, Lamont played a bass solo in the city of Ann Arbor, Michigan to a bunch of rowdy listeners after a U of M vs. MSU football game. U of M had won the game. It was a U of M home game in Ann Arbor. There football team was on fire, as was I....... Need I say more?
I was an original member of "The Fifth Revelation." Chuck Overton's "brain child" prior to "Brainstorm."
Check out my Obi Wan Kenobi look (smile)................. This was before Star Wars!!!!!
What great use of aluminum foil. (smile)....................... The 70's were the bomb!!!!!
This material was so shiny. Every time the lights changed, the fabric would change colors. "Brainstorm" was a nine piece band. I'll never forget the night we all hit the stage with our specially made garments, all made with this material. The looks on the faces of the audience was priceless.
This photo was taken at Axles Lounge, after a "Rapture" band performance.
Lee introduced "Brainstorm" to Clarence Avant, "Tabu Records."
If only I could fit in that T-Shirt again. (smile)
This was an advertisement of one of "Brainstorms" first performances after recording their debut album, entitled, "Stormin'." Willie, Keyboardist (the guy at the top), is not that tall (smile)
"Brainstorm" had all their stage wear specially made. I always wore robes on stage. This particular one is a photo of a beautiful royal blue.
This was one of "Brainstorm's" first photo sessions before showing their true colors. (smile)This photo was taken at the Belle Isle Conservatory. From left to right: David Miles, Guitarist, left the band before the first album was recorded. He chose not to stay to pursue further academic studies. Robert Ross, now resides in San Francisco. He is a well known producer, pianist, vocalist, with products available over the internet. Mr. Seley was my daughter, Alexis' 3rd-4th grade math and science teacher, whom I had the pleasure of performing and recording children's compositions with. The other characters in the group were Richard A. Johnson on drums, Paula Messner on guitar and vocals, and Tom Seley on vocals and guitar. Tom sung a lot like Mick Jagger in the Rolling Stones. You can visit Tom Seley at http://mrseley.com/ .
Wyandotte is a community south (downriver) of Detroit. During this experience, Lamont jammed with Rob Caruso on drums/vocals and J.C. Unger on guitar/vocals. J.C. is a extremely talented individual. He plays violin, keyboards, bass, guitar, programs drums, sequences and sings a lot like the pop singer, James Taylor. "Sweet baby, James" You can hear a lot of his work on Lamont's CDs, 'This Must Be Heaven 2004" and "Amore'".
As a member of the band, "Brainstorm", Lamont was the sole composer of two compositions including, the title cut. Co-wrote and sung the classic soul ballad, "This Must be Heaven", and displayed (for the first time in R&B music) bass work on a fretless bass. Year 1976.
The GM Building hovers over the community of Detroit like "Emerald City." "There's no place like home."
